This presentation covers the latest advancements in non-human primate (NHP) neuroscience research conducted at the Korea National Primate Research Center. Our work includes many areas such as neurodegenerative brain disease, brain function and neuromodulation. In disease modeling, we explore robust models of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and stroke. Using advanced imaging technologies like MRI and PET-CT, we gain valuable insights into brain structures and functions. Comprehensive behavioral assessments encompass various parameters, from locomotion and global activity to hand dexterity, gait, and behavior patterns. Cognitive function evaluations are conducted using tools such as touch screen-based computers and finger mazes. Our comprehensive approach includes histopathological, molecular biology, and clinical pathological assessments. Techniques like MRI-guided and CT-guided stereotaxic methods ensure precise targeting. Additionally, we collaborate on research and development projects, especially in optogenetics and chemogenetics. We also test advanced pharmaceuticals and medical devices using NHP models to evaluate their efficacy. This presentation offers a comprehensive overview of our contributions to NHP neuroscience research and the evaluation of cutting-edge biomedical interventions.
